![]() ![]() I will definetely watch it again, and recommend it to anyone interested in beating long odds to become one of the best athletes in the world. Mario Lopez, as the adult Greg does a respectable job of the part, and his Olympic coach was one of the strongest characters in the movie and carried good messages throughout the movie. ![]() ![]() The subject matter of being a gay athelete in a straight world is carried out in a manner that is suitable for most ages other than young children. Mario Lopez did a creditable job as Greg Louganis and his performance stayed faithful to the book. The chronological order of the movie is carried out well from his youth through adulthood, and there are only a few paths that would have been nice to have been walked further, but overall the points were well made. This was the film story of Greg Louganis' personal great achievements as an Olympic diver and of the struggle to reach that goal with all of the highs, lows and heartbreak of his personal life. His perfectionist streak is both a strength and weakness. Greg's struggle with his dads acceptance of him is a strong theme throughout the movie. You view innocence and manipulation, good motives and bad that are weaved pretty well throughout the movie. You have a feeling of connection with the common people in this movie and their flaws and imperfections. This was a good movie considering it wasn't high budget, and did a great job taking the viewer through Greg's story, which is herioc and tragic. ![]()
